Camacho Cigars Review

Camacho Cigars is a cigar company that was founded by Simon Camacho in 1961, and was then acquired by the Eiroa family in 1995. The Camacho Cigars brand is still alive today although it now belongs to the Oettinger Davidoff Group. The company operates out of Danli in theHonduras and it specialises in making authentic handmade cigars of the Cuban seed variety.

Siman Comacho was born in Cuba. He was exiled from the country in 1961, and moved to Miami, where he founded his cigar company. His cigars enjoyed instant success not just in the United States, but also abroad. Even Winston Churchil, the British Prime Minister, was a fan of the company’s cigars, to the point that the vitola madein the Romeo y Julieta factory was named after Churchill.

During this initial stage of the Comacho Cigar company’s life, production of cigars rose rapidly to between two and three million cigars per year. The quantity of cigars being produced continued to climb over the next few decades, and by the 1990s, as the cigar boom approached, production reached its peak.

Simon Camacho died in 1990, and five years later the Camacho cigar company was purchased by the Eiroa family. The family then moved production of the cigars from Nicaragua to the Honduras. Three years later, Christian Camacho, the 26-year-old son of the company founder, became the President of the Caribe Imported Cigars company and used his experience working in the Honduras to grow the company.

By the year 2000, the Camacho Corojo had launched, and the Eiroa family had teamed up with some of the biggest brands in the US cigar world. By 2008, the Camacho and Rancho Jamstran factory that was located in Danli was sold on to the Oettinger Davidoff Group. However, while the factory was sold on the Eiroas family did keep ownership of the tobacco fields in the Honduras.

The Eiroa family has a long history of working with tobacco itself, having started in the 1900s. However, the companys history was plagued with problems. The Cuban Revolution, and the nationalization of tobacco plantations that occurred not long after that, forced Generoso Eiroas widow and his sons to leave Cuba. They fled to Florida, and for a while the sons went to follow separate paths, with one joining the Bay of Pigs Invasion, one going to work in Nicaragua and one heading to the Honduras to lay the groundwork for the purchase of the Camacho tobacco plantations.

Julio Eiroa became an independent farmer and bought many tobacco farms over the next few years. His work went a long way towards growing the tobacco industry in the Honduras. He formed partnerships with US Tobacco and Bering Cigars, and eventually went on to become the largest Candela tobacco farmer in the world. Later, in 1987, he founded Caribe Imported Cigars, a company based in Miami, Florida which manufactures cigars and offers a wide selection of cigars both in the United States and on an international level.

Camacho Cigars adopted the standards published by Bayer CropScience for agriculture and manufacturing processes and began working together as a part of the Bayer Food Management program. This is particularly noteworthy because Camacho Cigas is the only tobacco company to be working in compliance with both the Good Agricultural Practices and Good Manufacturing Practices. These standards lay out guidelines for things like the use of bio-friendly pesticides as well as biosecurity and industrial safety. They demonstrate Camacho Cigars commitment to producing the highest quality cigars in the world.

Camacho Cigars is a very popular and respected brand. It has enjoyed some advertising deals with prestigious companies, but it was dealt a significant blow in 2013 when the sponsorship deal that it had with the 2013 BCS National Championship was pulled because some public health groups raised concerns that tobacco promotion should not be allowed as a part of sporting events. In European markets, tobacco advertising has been prohibited for many years, so those objections were taken seriously and the advertisements were removed.

Camacho Cigars are popular with a wide range of smokers and their products suit buyers at several levels of the market, giving the brand near universal appeal.
